Sydney Festival 2017 presents You, Me and the Space Between

The critically acclaimed family show You and Me and the Space Between is currently running at the Seymour Centre (17–21 January), featuring live drawing from Fairfax cartoonist, Cathy Wilcox (SMH, The Age) and narration from Raelee Hill.

The story is about a girl who lived on an island in the middle of the ocean. Although this girl had been told that the island was all there was, she couldn’t help wondering about what else might be out there.

The island of The Proud Circle has sprung a leak and its citizens must find a solution to stop their home disappearing forever. But it’s going to take all the ingenuity of their youngsters to ensure they don’t lose their way of living in the process.

In Terrapin Puppet Theatre’s latest creation, this funny and heroic story from one of Australia’s finest playwrights for children, Finegan Kruckemeyer, is brought to life through narration, music and live drawings that emerge in large scale on a paper set that has a life of its own.

The drawings of the journey emerge projected onto a large screen bringing the whole story alive on stage. The result is a magical adventure accompanied by a delightful soundtrack performed live on stage by composer Dean Stevenson that makes for a unique and utterly charming theatrical experience.
