The Completely MAD Don Martin: 1956-1988

For everyone who is a fan of Don Martin from Mad Magazine-

MAD has released a two volume collection of all of Don's cartoons, published between from 1956 until 1988. I've mostly seen it selling in shops like Dymocks and Angus & Robertson for $250, but I got it on amazon for US$94.50. It's well-presented and well worth the money. The only (small) downside is that the volumes are pretty heavy- you wouldn't want to read it in bed and fall asleep with it on your chest.

Hi Jalopy,
I also got a hold of these two Don Martin volumes cheaper on ebay. They are great books.
Don Martin was one of the reasons I became a cartoonist.
Great to have all of his cartoons in a collected volume.

Hey Mark

me too! He's been a big influence on me, mostly unconsciously I think- it had been ages since I'd read his stuff, so when I did I was very surprised that I remembered quite a few of his early ones (not that I was around back then, I'd gotten a hold of one of the old 'completely mad' books published in 1974). I tihnk I might have borrowed some of his facial expressions without realising it as well...!

I found this link- it's a dictionary of the sound effects Don Martin used in his cartoons.

Great dictionary. Better than Klingon.
